CONTEXT
Southampton City Centre is undergoing a period of transformation, balancing its rich maritime heritage with aspirations for a dynamic, sustainable future. As home to world-class universities, a thriving port, and a diverse, youthful population, the city has the potential to become a leading destination for culture, innovation, enterprise, and sport. However, to realise this vision, a clear and unified direction was needed – one that fosters inclusive growth, strengthens connectivity, and enhances climate resilience.
COMMISSION
Working in partnership with Southampton City Council and the Renaissance Board, we helped define a bold vision for the city centre’s renewal. Through collaborative workshops, we developed a framework that positions Southampton as a green, globally connected urban hub. Our approach emphasised revitalising underutilised spaces, creating vibrant neighbourhoods, and reinforcing the city’s iconic waterfront as a centrepiece of civic pride. This vision now serves as a call to action for innovators, entrepreneurs, and changemakers to join in shaping Southampton’s future as a model of regenerative urban development.
