CONTEXT
Bristol Temple Quarter stands as one of the UK’s largest regeneration projects, transforming 130 hectares of brownfield land into a world-class gateway to Bristol and the West of England region. The scale of Bristol’s housing crisis is monumental, with at least 20,000 people on the council waiting list for affordable housing. Together with challenges presented by climate instability in the wider region, this project brings hope and renewed opportunities to Bristol — a city known for its unparalleled charisma and strong-willed spirit.
COMMISSION
The Vision for Place has been crafted by input from hundreds of voices and ideas from community members and project stakeholders, who helped us articulate and define the essence of Bristol and how its spirit can be reflected at Bristol Temple Quarter. Our engagement includes interviews and focus groups with project stakeholders and participatory workshops with community groups, using tools we designed to meet project objectives, including tools and processes from our Place Futures Toolkit. In parallel, we worked with Bristol-based students at Screenology to express through filmmaking what the future at Bristol Temple Quarter might look like.
